Michigan 8.22.08 - 2.24.08

This past weekend we went to Rockford, MI to visit our friend Susan. We had so much fun visiting her. We got there pretty late on Friday night...but I was super wired after eating her moms most yummiest scothcaroos and then we talked till about 1:30am or so...went to bed...of course I was the first up..so I chilled at scotcharoos and watched tv till the to lazy heads woke up. We went to get Suz some pepto for her tummy at a place called Rite Aid and I got mints and of course Tom found video games there to buy. We enjoyed the day shopping at the mall and we couldn't visit without eating at Olga's...mmm snackers. Although they didn't taste as good as they once did...but still yummy. We continued to shop and then went back to Susan's apartment, chilled and ate some more scotcharoos...they are so good. Susan wasn't feeling well that day, but she was a trooper. Later that night we went to a minor league baseball game of the White Caps. It was a lot of fun, even though they lost big time. They had an eyeball race and the red and green eye ran into eachother and the red eye deflated...it was pretty funny...but the funniest thing was when Frankie Pig and Crash the river rat flug wrapped hot dogs into the crowd with one of those sling shot things and they were unwrapping and the wiener went one way and the bun went the other...we laughed so hard. We went back to the apt. and I finished watching Rocky Balboa...it was an ok movie. Then Suz and I talked some more and we went to bed. We got up the next morning...again I was up early...ate my scotcharoos and then we went to Toys R Us for Tommy Boy and ate at Bennigan's were I enjoyed my much wanted Monte Cristo...it is soooooooooooo bad for you, but I love it!!! It's probably the last time I would eat it since they don't have them out in IL anymore. What a shame. So that pretty much sums up the weekend in MI. Oh yeah...our trip home was going very smooth...we were making some great time...that is until we entered into Indiana..."Indiana you suck!!! Your roads are horrible and if I never have to travel on them again...I won't!" ok I needed to say that. We got stuck on I-94 for 45 mins going from about 0mph to 20mph...it was horrible....and the thing is, I don't even know why it was that way. Just b/c it goes to 2 lanes doesn't mean it should be at a stand still...I just don't get it. So that sums it up...it was a great weekend! Thanks Snoozy!

Starved Rock

Yesterday, Aug 16th, 2008 Tom and I went to Starved Rock for the day. We enjoyed a nice 3 1/2 hour hike through the caynon's, up millions of stairs, overlooked the river and walked along the Illinois River. We walked the farthest we have ever walked there and came across a beautiful little caynon that had a little waterfall. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect day together, the weather was hot, but not to hot...of course I was sweating...it doesn't matter how warm it is...I'm drenched.

Here are a couple pictures:

These are just the start of the stairs

just a little update on the Fasano's

So this summer has really flown by. I (asheley) have been babysitting a family from school. Two little girls who couldn't be everything but the opposite I saw at school. No longer are they the shy little quiet girls...no they are loud and obnoxious and have a bunch of cry fests. I've been doing that 5 days a week from about 830 - 5pm.

Tom on the other hand started a brand new and if I may say so myself a pretty awesome job. He started at Olivet Nazarene University as a maintenance worker. He started off working during the days and then soon after started working 7 days a week for about 6 weeks in a row b/c the Chicago Bears were practicing there. Needless to say he got to meet some of the Bears players and was even lucky enough to get some autographs. Soon we will be getting use to me getting up and going to work and him just getting home. Me getting home and Tom getting up...spending some time together and off to bed for me and off to work for him. It will be crazy for awhile, but we will handle it.

I soon will be going back to work at Living Springs starting the last week of Aug...and then fully Sept 2nd. I'm excited in a way, but not ready for the early mornings again.

Well to all...thanks for reading and sorry it's been so long. Good reads!

FIRE!!!

Today we left for a trip down memory lane - Oak Lawn here we come (or I should say came). We left in the afternoon to the builders building a house on the corner and came back to a burnt up house. We were eating dinner at Huck Finn and I got a call from Laura our neighbor. Who told us that there had been a fire right down from our houses. The power was off and the house was burnt to a crisp. I'll just show ya the rest with pictures. Crazy what happens in our neighborhood.

California May 9-11 2008

Tom and Asheley in the air and on the way to CA

Last weekend Tom and I, my Mom, Uncle Bob, Aunt Jan and Grandma and Grandpa Visser embarked on a journey to California for my cousin Lisa's wedding. Let's just say it's always a joy in traveling with the grandparents. It's tough and needless to say....it's gotta stop! It's way to hard to do now a days...I mean hello they are 91 and 88 or something like that. Anyways...we flew into Oakland, CA and traveled a good hour and a half to Modesto, CA. We had a really nice car...2008 Chrystler Sebring...very good on fuel. Anyways...got to the hotel and relaxed...and Tom and I went out to visit with my good friedn Elise, from college. We took her on a ride. We didn't know what there was to do out there so...we left it up to her. She didn't know what to do with us...she claimed that Modesto there was nothing to do and all restaurants would be busy on a Friday at this time....so we ended up going to her new house to see what it was all about. Nice house...big...her roomate bought it. Then we rode around town wondering where to eat...so we stopped at her boyfriends favorite spot...the Wiener Snitchzel (sp?) ummm...no we just embaressed her there....Tom wanted Chicken and nothing but chicken (he was on a strict diet) Needless to say we eventuall went to a place called

Tom at ToGo's...I guess he didn't like what we said....Oh well

ToGo's which I've eaten at before and HATED...but that was a long time ago and not in CA. It was great!!!! Half taco salad and half turkey sandwhich that was huge...so ToGo's was good...then off to Elise's house to play some Jenga...

Tom looking intently for that one piece that is loose....Elise looking on thinking...knock it over!

which we played 2 games and I never knocked it over! We then said good night and ended up staying at the hotel that night instead of my cousins....we played hit the deck with my cousin Jame, Joyce and Jeff...till 11 1am our time. We had been up some 20 hours that day...aghhh then I couldn't sleep at all...I ended up waking up at 630am.

So the day began on the 10th and I woke up early and went for a little cinnamon bun with Mom and then Tom surprisingly came in at 7ish...WOW is all I have to say. So we worked out..nice workout room...and then we got picked up for some breakfast with Elise.

Asheley and Elise at the "Country Bear" My Garden for breakfast

We went to a place that she thought was called the Country Bear, but ended up being My Garden. Cute little place...for breakfast...she got eggs benidict..I got strawberry almond waffles and Tom got none other than a SALAD!!!! haha what can I say...he's Tom and I love em' to death Salad for breakfast or not. :) We then went to get ready at the hotel and said our good-bye's to Elise. It was good to see her after 4 years and Tom finally got to meet the Elise I talked on the phone with.

Jen, Joyce & Asheley at the wedding...yeah for cousins

Tom and Jeff acting silly inside the church waiting for the bride to come down the aisle
